We want to first apologize for the silence over the holidays. The holidays have always been a difficult for us (on the emotional front), but this year brought additional challenges that we were not prepared for. More info on that after a Content Warning later in the post.
As far as our progress on the game and tarot deck goes; we are very close to still being on schedule aside from the manuscript being delayed slightly. Francita still has more than enough time to do the layout and Andrea and Mia have been working diligently on the tarot deck!
I'll be refocusing my efforts back onto the Witches of Midnight manuscript in the coming days with a final manuscript to be sent out to backers no later than Monday January 15th, 2024. I apologize for that delay and I hope it hasn't ruined anyone's plans to play.
During the last few weeks, we were traveling for an emergency (more on that below) and I didn't have my work computer (read: access to the manuscript), so I started working on an I had for a new game, Glitch City Uprising! It's a GM-less narrative cyberpunk fantasy game about revolution and I'm very proud of it. I'm not going to hype it up here, but if you want more info or to join in the playtests, please join our Discord (link in a past update) or message me here on Kickstarter for a link.
Thank you all for sticking with us through the radio silence. We'll endeavor to make updates more quickly in the coming months with a major update on the tarot deck coming very soon. Mia has been extremely diligent about making tarot cards, some weeks making two or even three. Andrea is ahead of Mia on the guide book and card descriptions, so there are plenty of items in the hopper for Mia to choose from and be inspired by. Tarot streams on our Discord are still happening on a nearly weekly basis, so please join in and help shape the deck!
Please accept my apologies and stay with us as we try to stick the landing on this project. If you need to peace out after the content warnings, just know that we love you and appreciate your support and we are working hard to make sure that we don't disappoint.
Please let your witchy friends know that the game is still available on BackerKit for pre-order and every single dollar pledged is appreciated and will help us bring this game to life in the coming months.
Let's make 2024 the Year of the Dragon Witch!

In late October, just as we were coming to the last stages on the manuscript, I (Gavin) lost my high paying IT job and had to focus on different ways to bring in income. I tried a lot of side hustles and applied to a *lot* of job listings, but with the other tech layoffs happening in my field and the looming holidays I found that not many companies were hiring in my niche. At the same time, we had just moved and were denied for all types of state financial assistance, and lost our healthcare (and any prescriptions that couldn't transfer from another state).
As we were dealing with the fallout of job loss, my partner's father's brain cancer returned and we learned that it was terminal. We ended up travelling across multiple states repeatedly to bring them anything they needed and help out as we could afford. We happily burned through what little savings we had so that we could help them, and then we had to rely on the kindness of family (and internet family) to get us through the holidays. I don't have specific permission to name them (and some of them will receive this email), but I want to thank them profusely here for keeping us afloat.
My partner's father died a couple of days before xmas and we couldn't leave his widow behind in an empty house, so they came to live with us. Now we are a household of 8 and things are going relatively well (though we are still struggling with debilitating grief on a nearly daily basis).
We don't tell you this to make excuses, but to elucidate you on our situation.
Thank you for staying on this long ride with us! We have so much love for all of you!
